Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus
was born in 1451 in Genoa, Italy. He was an explorer and navigator. He first
voyages started as a teenager when he participated in trading voyages. In 1476
he nearly died when the voyage he was on was attacked by French privateers. He had
one son with a woman named Felipa Perstrello. When Christopher moved to Spain
his wife died, after that he had a second son in 1488. In 1492 he was rejected
for not being able to get a three-ship voyage for discovery. In August of that
same year he set sail with the three ships The Santa Maria, The Pinta, and The
Nina. Thinking that he would find a shorter way to get to India he found
instead what today is America. He died in May 20, 1506 still thinking that he
found a short cut to Asia
